December 7, 2009: The Rackhouse Pub opened at 208 S. Kalamath Street, in central Denver. All of the tap beers at the Rackhouse are brewed in Colorado.

 

 

November 30, 2009: Santa Alert - on Saturday, December 5, more than 500 Santas are expected to join in a bar crawl in Denver. Qualifications to join? Don a red suit and meet at Fado Irish Pub at 4:30 p.m.

 

 

November 15, 2009: The Squealin' Pig bar, in Cherry Creek North, is named after an Irish legend, which may have originally come from a Greek legend involving Zeus, baby Zeus, and Cronas.

 

 

November 10, 2009: Hookah bars are the latest rage in Denver. What is a hookah? It's an oriental tobacco pipe with a flexible tube connected to a container of water. The water pipe is used for smoking shisha, which is a type of tobacco.

 

 

November 1, 2009: The Wynkoop Brewery, in LoDo, was founded in 1988 by Denver's current mayor, John Hickenlooper.

October 1, 2009: Love champagne? Corridor 44 in Larimer Square has 112 types to choose from, 18 champagne cocktails, 15 champagne cocktails, and flights of champagne.

 

 

September 1, 2009: Drive down Parker Road on any given Saturday afternoon, and you'll see an impressive array of motorcycles parked in the lot in front of the Piper Inn. This well-known Denver biker bar is also famous for its hot Asian wings. Everyone's welcome...even if you pull up on four wheels instead of two.

 

 

August 22, 2009: Dave & Busters, near I-25 and Colorado Boulevard, has more than 100 games to play, including some fun arcade games. It's like a Denver bar for grown-up kids...too much happiness!

 

 

August 15, 2009: The Sports Column, in LoDo, has to be considered one of Denver's best sports bars. The proof? The numerous national and local awards the bar has won for best sports bar.


August 3, 2009: The Robusto Room, one of Denver's premier cigar bars, stocks more than 600 cigars and also offers personalized cigar lockers.

 

July 26, 2009: Churchill's bar, located in the historic Brown Palace Hotel in downtown Denver, offers 60 varieties of cigars, as well as premium malts and scotches.

 

July 12, 2009: Elway's, in Cherry Creek North, is the most well-known Cougar bar in Denver.

 

 

July 5, 2009: The #1 liquor license in the state belongs to the Buckhorn Exchange, and it was issued in 1893.

 

 

June 28, 2009: The Art Deco Cruise Room bar in the historic Oxford Hotel in downtown Denver was patterned after a 1930s bar aboard the Queen Mary.

August 5, 2010: Marlowe's, on the 16th Street Mall, has been around since the Mall  opened in 1982 - a veritable lifetime in bar years.

June 15, 2009:
Back in the day, when planes were flying out of Stapleton airport, you could enjoy a drink and the blues at the Hangar Bar. No airplanes to watch today, but the Hangar Bar is still known for its libations and music.
