Neighborhood Bars In Denver

Denver’s neighborhood bars are as distinctive as their neighborhoods, each with its own personality and collection of locals. From Cherry Creek to Bonnie Brae, Edgewater to Highlands, these neighborhood bars are tucked away in all corners of Denver.

Cherry Cricket
2641 East Second Avenue, Denver • 303.322.7666
The burger’s the lure at the Cricket, along with a bar the length of the room, and a casual atmosphere that’s a rarity in the upscale Cherry Creek North shopping district. No need to dress up or put on airs at this Denver bar.

Mead Street Station
3625 West 32nd Avenue, Denver • 303.433.2138
Down-to-earth attitude, live music, and an old-world atmosphere make this Denver bar in the Highlands neighborhood a destination for a diverse crowd, including families with children.

HandleBar And Grill
305 South Downing Street, Denver • 303.778.6761
Situated just blocks from Washington Park, in central Denver, The Handlebar And Grill is more of a restaurant than a bar, with the theme of cycling highlighted in the photos and memorabilia.

Wymans No. 5
2037 E. 13th Avenue, Denver • 303.996.0842
Why the strange name for this Congress Park / Cheesman Park bar? Because the owners couldn’t come up with anything better in time for the grand opening than to name it after the Wyman’s Historic District where it’s located (with the number 5 derived, presumably from the fifth bar in the local empire). Located just steps from Denver’s Botanic Gardens, Wymans will lure you in with the Chicago style pizza baked in ovens left behind by the previous tenant, who was a baker. Crispy to deep dish, the pizza just makes you want to drink more beer.

Reiver’s Bar And Grill
1085 South Gaylord Street, Denver • 303.733.8856
Since 1977, Reiver’s has been one of the draws on Old South Gaylord Street, a one-block shopping district that houses a collection of small shops and boutiques. The front patio, though small, is a great place to park and people-watch. The inside of this Denver bar and restaurant has the feel of a European pub.

Bonnie Brae Tavern
740 South University Boulevard, Denver • 303.777.2262
Teal and chrome dot the interior of the Bonnie Brae Tavern, a Washington Park fixture. A “Fine food and cocktails” sign is displayed on the side of the building, and the fourth generation of family members are working at this Denver bar, revered for its thin crust pizza.

The Tavern Lowry

7401 East 1st Avenue, Denver •  303.366.0007

Located on the eastern edge of Denver, in the Lowry neighborhood, the Tavern Lowry is a great destination spot for lunch, dinner, appetizers, or just drinks. Guys will love the TVs and rich bar look, and gals will love the large selection of tasty salads. Yes, salads...at a bar...some of the best in Denver.

Campus Lounge
701 South University Boulevard, Denver • 303.722.9696
Don’t let the name fool you, this Denver bar isn’t near a college campus, nor is it filled with students. Instead, an unpretentious atmosphere, sports ticker, and plenty of televisions make it a great place to watch your favorite games.

Tavern Wash Park

1066 South Gaylord Street, Denver •  303.733.0350

Just blocks from Washington Park, on Denver's famous "Old South Gaylord Street," the Tavern Wash Park's draws include a bloody mary and coffee bar on the weekends, a great "people-watching" patio, and a pool table.

Salty Rita’s
200 Quebec Street, Denver • 303.344.4404
No neighborhood needed a local hangout bar more than Lowry, which rose from the ashes of an old Air Force Base to become a neighborhood of modern-style homes with little personality. Salty Rita’s adds some spunk, with a big patio and a giant margarita glass over the front door that, if the rumors are true, could hold 300 margaritas if anyone was ever ambitious enough to climb a ladder and fill it with tequila.

Edgewater Inn
5302 West 25th Avenue, Edgewater • 303.23.3524
A stone’s throw from Sloan’s Lake, the Edgewater Inn is known for its pizza.

The Recovery Room

819 Colorado Boulevard, Denver  •  303.248.7207

A great bar to hang out in, whether you're a doctor, a nurse, or just live in the vicinity of Rose Medical Center and University Hospital. Click here for more information on the Recovery Room.
